New Works by Eric Leichter at Beauty,
October 4 to Nov. 8, 2014
Artists Opening Reception, Saturday, October 4, 5:00 - 8:00
Eric Leichter is originally from New York,
where he attended the High School of Music and Art. In 1969 he came
to Philadelphia to study at Philadelphia College of Art, and graduated
with a BFA in 1973.
Following graduation, Eric worked as a freelance illustrator and
in the field of human services. From 1990 - 2001 he worked as the
in-house comp/storyboard artist at Al Paul Lefton (APL), the venerable
Philadelphia advertising agency. After leaving APL, Eric began Celebration
Illustration, a freelance business through which he continued to
work for APL as well as for other ad agencies and film production
companies. He continues to do freelance illustration today.
One day in 2005, Eric was overcome by the desire to
paint in oils again. He took up his brushes after a hiatus of nearly
30 years, and has been painting ever since. Over the last few years
he has taken classes with Kerry Dunn at Studio Incamminati, with
Ellen Cooper, Garth Herrick, Nancy Bea Miller and Alexandra Tyng
at Wayne Art Center, and with Fred Kaplan and John Meehan at the
Wallingford Community Arts Center. Eric has participated in a number
of group, two person and solo shows. He has won several awards.
Eric loves painting human, animal, and still life
subjects. He has completed a number of commissioned pet portraits,
and enjoys working with clients to create a painting that they will
always treasure. Eric is very happy to be represented by Beauty
Art Gallery in Newtown Square, PA (Edgmont Township).
